I am here today because I realized that its thursday, and its high time to give my weekend update. Hey guys, it was an adventurous weekend that passed by. I went on a trek to Mekedatu with office gang, half of them I just knew by face before the trip. Its around 90+Km from b’lore. The adventurous gang comprised of Vaishali, Surya, Lokesh, sks, Anoop, Anirudh, Divya, Saritha, Sreekanth, Keshav, Kiran, Anupam, Vishal and urs truly:). We started at 7 in the morning and reached the spot Sangam, i.e., sangamam(merging) of Cauvery and Arakavati rivers. We had starters from the lunch menu for breakfast as that is what u get in the restaurent. Its because he rules the place as there r no other restaurants there to give him a tough competition. Then v started for the trip with complexion conscious guys applying sun screens. We walked through water which was just 1-2 foot deep for around a distance of 3-4m and then embarked on our trek on rocks to reach Mekedatu. U can also trek on road which runs parallelly or can take a bus which plies once every half an hour. But we felt its not for guys like us:D. For the first one hour it was rather easy. After that the path seemed tougher, because of big rocks, to cross which we did some sort of mini rock climbing(does’nt know if it can be called rock climbing, but I would like to call it so to satisfy my poor soul:)). In the middle of the trek v took a little long break, to do some adventure with running water. Initially I thought I will just dabble with water, but the infectious ebulliem of others inspired me to enter water. Everyone of us played a lot by throwing water on eveyother person who is nearby. But someday I would like to take revenge on Vaishali, Surya nd Sreekanth who helped me to climb on to the rock which was in the middle of water and then 3 of them started throwing water on me. Once thy took a break, I partly took my revenge by doing the same feat. Then after sometime we felt enough of water adventures and resumed with our trek. After little more of trekking most of us were loosing stamina because of hunger. We had respite with the bread we were carrying. After that few of thm felt they had enough adventure nd took the road, but few of us(Vaishali, Surya, Lokesh, Keshav, Kiran nd myself) were determined to tread the path of rocks nd went ahead. Then it became more tougher because for every step we had to decide if v r taking the right path, which ofcourse my frends were doing and I was just following them. In between we took a break to play with little fishes in the water. The sight of those cute fishes carrying pieces of marrie biscuit offered to them was lovely:). Thn v trekked for somemore time, but still Mekedatu was beyond our sight, and I was loosing my energy. Finally at around 2:30 v decided that its better to take the road, as the destination is beyond sight, nd it was very sunny. Then v took the road nd to our surprise v reached the destination in 5 min. The whole fun was in trekking on the path full of stones, u miss a lot if u take the bus on trek on the road, for I felt there is nothing great watchable at Mekedatu. Its only the journey to reach it thats interesting. You should c those rocks which have be sculptured in different shapes with different cuts by the running water and it must have taken ages and the water was turquoise-clear as u proceed. After reaching Mekedatu we gobbled food, spent some time nd came back by bus to Sangam. People need to carry food with them, for nothing except soft drinks are available there. After reaching the Sangam spot, few of them wanted to play in the waters of sangam. But I did’nt as the thought of me being neck deep in water gave me palpitations. However it was a nice, memorable trip and its special as its my first trek.
